Ukrainian Land Forces Deny Rumors of Women’s Conscription
Authorities call claims disinformation and clarify current military policies

Ukraine’s Land Forces have denied rumors about preparations to conscript women, stating that no such measures or mechanisms are being developed. Officials emphasized that recent claims are enemy disinformation (дезінформація) aimed at undermining conscription efforts. They added that isolated cases of incorrect registration are due to system errors, according to a Telegram update published on April 4.
The statement noted that Ukrainian media and online platforms have recently been flooded with reports suggesting preparations for the mobilization of women into the army. Authorities described this information as baseless (безпідставний) and manipulative, warning that it is being used to weaken public trust and disrupt mobilization processes.
Officials further stressed that Ukrainian legislation in this area has not changed. Women may join the military only on a voluntary basis, while mandatory military registration applies exclusively to citizens with medical or pharmaceutical education. This framework reflects the current legal provisions (положення) governing military service.
The command also addressed a specific case in which a woman without the required education was mistakenly placed on the military register. This occurred due to incorrect data entered into the Oberih system in 2021. During subsequent checks, other similar inaccuracies were identified. However, it is currently technically impossible to delete such records due to system and regulatory constraints (обмеження).
The Land Forces have already appealed to the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense with proposals to resolve these issues. Authorities confirmed that the situation is under control and that all cases are being carefully analyzed to ensure proper rectification (виправлення).
Citizens are encouraged to contact the hotline if they discover incorrect data in their records. Officials reaffirm that the system is being reviewed and improved to prevent further administrative irregularities (порушення).
Earlier, a Kyiv resident, Iryna Kharatsydi-Lohinova, reported that she had been mistakenly added to the list of individuals liable for military service and declared wanted by a Territorial Recruitment Center, despite never being registered. After appeals and verification, she was removed from the wanted list, although her registration data remains under review, highlighting ongoing challenges in administrative accuracy (точність).
More than 50,000 Ukrainian women serve in the military.
